    They were originally introduced from Fiji to Australia late in the 1800's to control the cane beetle in the sugar cane crops (sugar cane is Queensland's 3rd largest export). But cane toads soon found a much wider range of tastier food in Australia - the cane beetle is still a problem. The climate suits the cane toad very well, and it likes eating frogs, and other native wildlife that it eats :no:

      They are a pest, just like the rabbit which was an introduced species too.

        Well rabbits do breed faster ;)

        But myxo and kalicivirus have sort of reduced their numbers :thumb:

          Those arent working anymore, even that new genetic disease that they were breeding into them doesnt have much of an effect anymore

                    Rabbits are also good for biology..... remember cutting them up in grade 12
