  • Most expensive piece of Hardware that you have fried

When i was replacing my slow XP1800 cpu with a XP2G, I slipped and sliced a resistor in half on my Asus A7V333 (with all the options). So now I can only use 1 out of 3 Memory banks. Basically is $400 AUS down the drain, and what even more annoying is that I'm stuck with only 512 Meg of PC2700 ram

    I know that beefy's fried a CPU or 2.

Who else has fried some expensive piece of computer equipment.

    It'll make me feel better:devil:

I haven't fried anything really expensive, but have had a few nice flammable ones :D

My Uncle gave me a tiny little board with a UMC 486SX-40 on it, a resistor blew up and the board actually caught fire!!!

Motherboards are supposed to have fire retardant chemicals built-in, but obviously not in this case - the smoke detector went off as I frantically unplugged the thing and threw the box out the door - much to the amusement of my neighbours

A shame that no one had a videocam goin' at the time. :(

I guess it would have to be a T-bone.

So it wasn't because of the voltage mod ya done to it tryin' to get more speed out of it then? :D
