While reading the story, all I kept thinking was... noobs.
Their "data" and conclusions regarding HDD reliability is a perfect example of the antithesis of the scientific method. No different than a PC builder with one XYZ HDD that fails and proclaims, "XYZ HDDs suck...".

I'd be laughing at that if it weren't for the matter of this seems to be happening more and more lately. Giving credence on the front pages where in this instance some editor should have just waste binned it instead. Dunno if it's done for the linkbacks or what, but it should have been sent directly to the recycle bin.#1 - Please, when seeking help, enter the make and model of ALL parts that your system is comprised of in your Signature, or at least the model #'s in your System Specs, then "Save' it.
____If you are overclocking, underclocking, or undervolting any parts, informing us of this and their values would prove beneficial in helping you.
#2 - Consider your PSU to be the foundation from which all else is built upon. Anything built upon a weak foundation is poorly built.Comment
