    Re: Graphics card ?

Your Asus 6970 should be fine.
What gpu compatibility list are you looking at?

Most motherboard hardware compatibility lists are NOT up to date and many/most lists are updated infrequently.
With some hardware lists (especially memory lists), only a small subset of the compatible items are listed.

        Re: Graphics card ?

At ASRock > Products > P67 Extreme4 Gen3, I see CPU and MEMORY support lists. Being a genuine Gen3 motherboard with all the right Gen3 components, you should have no problem with running new Gen3 hardware (when it becomes available) and you can currently use current PCI-e 2.x and 1.x video cards. I didn't see any GPU support lists.

Note: To use the full bandwidth that Gen3 provides, you will need an Ivy Bridge cpu. It looks like Sandy Bridge processors will only support the current "GEN2" bandwidth specifications. Even though Sandy Bridge should be "Gen3 compatible", meaning that Gen3 video cards with a Sandy Bridge cpu would probably have the same bandwidth limitations as the current PCI-e 2.x setups. As of right now, them's the facts, we will have to wait and see how the hardware will really work when it's available.

                Re: Graphics card ?

There's a lot to choose from all major brands should be good quality, its down to budget and spec,I can only comment on sapphire,if you were going for that brand put the extra and go for the vapor x models, they have black diamond chokes which run cooler and vapor x cooling chamber,I have a 5770 and 5870 vapor x models and they run great
