front usb ports dont recognize peripherals

hey guys,

im having trouble with my front usb ports. they seem to be working in the control panel but when i plug into them they dont recognize anything. It says that i plugged something in but it cant recognize it. If i plug into the back of the computer thats directly to the mobo everything works fine though. Did i screw up the connections?

Get out your motherboard manual, and your case manual, and double check that they use the same connecting standard / or check to make sure that they are connected correctly...

well i noticed that there are extra grounding connectors for my front usb ports but i didnt know where to put them so i didnt connect them to anything. My case doesnt have a manual unforunately

Does it have a website?

If you can't find any literature, you will have to hope that the cables are colored standard colors. Then take your motherboard manual, and compare it with data you find on what USB wire colors are usually used for which different pins, and THEN check to see which pin on the motherboard is pin1, and compare back and forth to see which wires are connected to which mobo pins...

You must assume that it is connected improperly, EVEN though windows see's it as a device. The reason for this is that the device that Windows sees is simply the USB chip ON the mobo, which IS installed, the circuits coming from the chip are those that are improperly installed.

i think its cuz i dont have drivers for it, the motherboard didnt come with them.

Windows Probably installed them, but if not, look online for support for your mobo...
