Is it possible to switch the hardrive from one computer and put it on another and still keep all the same files? Both computers are relatively up-to-date except for one of them isn't turning on properly.

Just want to know if I sohuld do this, it's pretty urgent and only for temporary.

As long as you aren't using the built-in NTFS encryption feature which let's only a certain user access certain files, it will work fine.

Why don't you set the hard drive as a SLAVE before installing it in the 2nd unit. You will still be able to access the info on drive, however most of(99.9%) the installed programs will not run without being linked to an operating system.

On the contrary, most programs will still run fine. I'd estimate 60-70% of programs will run perfectly or with minor/resolvable issues without their respective registry keys. That said, not as many will run if they're also in a directory other than the one to which they were assigned (which includes drive letter).

Also, please check post dates. Replyng to threads that are over a month old isn't really helpful.
