  • radeon x1900xt huge problem

My Sapphire Radeon X1900 XT just died on me.

One minute was fine and the next I have no image after starting the computer. The WinXP works if I change the graphic card, so it doesn't seem to be a driver related thing. And nothing got fried inside it, so no sign of power failure.

Anybody heard of this problem before or has any ideas on what might be that killed my graphic card? I only had it for 2 weeks so this is very upseting to me. I'd appreciate any feedback on this.

      Re: radeon x1900xt huge problem

Well, I figured out something, but I still don't know what it means.

In order to fix the "no image" issue I have to somehow uninstall the ati catalyst driver and control center and install it back after a restart.

I still have my old video card, so I pluged that in and I got back the image. After "uninstalling all ati products", reconnecting the x1900xt and reinstalling the video drivers the card starts working again.

As for the power supply info, I have no idea, where it is listed?

      Pentium4, 3.2
      2Gb RAM
      Radeon X1900XT, 512Mb, pci express

Usually, it has a large sticker on it that will give the brand name, model and power specs. You power supply needs to be a good name brand 400W+ unit to be reliable enough for that video card.
