Recovering HD Data from a fried computer.

My old computer died about a month ago, only a few days before I posted here about it reapeatedly restarting when a disk was inserted into the DVD-ROM which I think eventually cooked my graphics card or mainboard (probably both), but now since I have a new computer I never really thought about it until I wanted to play some if my music and realized it's all on my other computers hardrive...

So im wondering if i can simply plug in my old (not really old) HD in and transfer my music onto my new HD without damageing anything, or if that is not possible is there another way?

Both have WinXP pro however not form the same disc.

Shouldn't be a problem at all assuming that the old drive is undamaged. Just hook up the old drive as a "slave" drive and grab the files you want. Assuming both the old system and the new are using ATA hard drives you will need to set the jumpers on the old drive to "slave" then plug in the IDE and power cables and start the machine. You may even want to keep the second drive in your new system for additional storeage or as a backup disk.
