  • Computer freezes on startup

I have a system that freezes on the first screen that shows the bois version and the CPU type but thats as far as it get before it freezes. The person that owns this system told me it was working fine until they moved it. I checked all the wiring, cards, and ram to see if something came loose or disconnected but I couldn't find anything. Any ideas anyone?

I forgot to mention that I can't even get to the bios since it freezes before I can get that far.

Update------- I called Asus the manufacturer of the mainboard and they said the bios chipset needs to be replaced. I ordered a new on so hopefully that solves the prob.

did you remove and reinsert all cards, just making sure there are in quiet often isn't enough

on an Asus board you can create a rescue bios floppy (formatted floppy with the bios file on it) and it would have updated your bios (maybe, i've managed to get it do it on an asus board in worse condition than yours)
