Coolermaster Hyper 212 plus question.

I am putting together a new build with a hyper 212 plus and some corsair vengeance memory that goes right beside it. The problem is that the hyper 212 extends slightly into the 1st slot of memory. The vengeance memory is way too high with the heatsink on it. What can I do? Can I put the fan on the cooler to pull instead of push or will I lose some cooling? Do I need to get different memory? Can I take of the heatsink on the first stick? Thanks.

I see four possible options:

1. Replace the 120mm fan with a 92mm fan - normal fan thickness is 25mm and if you mount the 92mm fan flush with the top of the cpu heatsink, the bottom of the 92mm fan will be about 28mm higher than the 120mm fan's bottom edge.
2. Mount the 212+ heatsink horizontally, so that the air will be pushed toward the exhaust fan at the top rear portion of your case. Check my cpu heatsink/fan setup in http://forums.tweaktown.com/video-ca...tml#post395596, posts #81 and #83. My Balder cpu heatsink is about 2mm thinner than the Hyper 212+. I don't think that this option will work, as the narrow edge of my heatsink almost touches my 61mm tall memory in my P35-DS3L system.
3. Use a down draft style cpu cooling solution that will not have clearance problems with your memory.
4. Carefully modify the height of one or more of your memory modules' heat spreaders.

Replacing your current memory with a different model with a "standard" heat spreader is an option, as memory modules with plain heat spreaders are about 30 mm tall. Removing the tall heat spreader from a memory module is NOT recommended.

Check out the 92mm PWM Arctic Cooling F model fan. It retails for about $10 (USD). Don't even think of buying from them directly, the freight charges to ship from Asia are prohibitive. It is an excellent fan.
edit: I just noticed that you have a P35 motherboard, so option #2 might work.
I thought that you had a P67 motherboard.

I now have an H40 liquid cooler from Corsair installed in my computer. I want to know what someone would do in the case I am going to explain.
The H40 recommends it as an air intake so I have put this as an air intake in the back. My top fan on my P183 V3 is taking air out. My front two though are intake again. That is 3 in and 1 out. Should I switch my top fan in the front of my case and put it as an out fan? This would give me 2+2. Any suggestions would be great if you know what you are talking about.:)

If your psu is the Silencer 750 Quad, you also have a psu fan (22-55 CFM) that draws interior case air from the front of the psu and exhausts air out the back of the psu. I would count the psu fan as 1/2 of a fan exhausting air because the psu fan is probably seldom running at full speed. Right now, your computer case has positive air flow, meaning that more air is drawn into your case than can be exhausted by the fans.

Corsair probably wants the H40 fan to draw cooler room air through the radiator for maximum cpu cooling. You also need to consider hdd, motherboard and gpu cooling and the goal is to provide optimal cooling for all components. The best setup is where internal case air turbulence is minimized.

A web search using: positive vs negative pressure computer case will provide some guidance, but not any definitive answers. You can configure SpeedFan to monitor and log all temperatures. Your best bet is to run an extended test with your system using high loads for several hours with your current setup. Then you can repeat the test where you change the fan orientation with one or more fans. My preference is to have top mounted fans exhausting air out of the case to minimize drawing dust into the computer case. I've had good luck with used dryer softener sheets on the air intake side of case fans to help lower dust intake.
I like to think that I know what I'm talking about.

If your OCZ 750W Fatal1ty psu has the fan drawing air from the bottom of the computer case, then the psu fan has no effect on computer case airflow. I never install a bottom mounted psu with the fan facing up, as it's too easy to accidentally drop a small screw into the psu. Opening a psu case automatically voids your warranty.
