  • H57 Chipset First Look: ASUS P7H57D-V EVO

When intel launch the Core i7 Nehalem processor, we also can see the Lynnfield, Clarkdale, Havenfield in the same presentation. After the offical released on P55 platform, the Lynnfield processor become the mainstream PC standard. From Core 2's Eagle Lake, Tylersburg on X58, Ibex Peak for P55, due to the LGA1156 socket, now we have the chance to see the Graphic Integrated H55/H57 chipset from Intel. As the previous info, we all know that the next Intel Core i3 will base on the GMA, not only the CPU combine the GFX, it also means a lot to whole PC market, it means the lower cost, more flexible platform, also the cheaper price and more market share, it is mostly the biggest thing in the PC.

The roadmap of Intel Chipest, H55/H57 is also a group with Ibex Peak, including the P55.

We can see clearly in the comparison table below, it tell you the different on Ibex Peak chipset. But the biggest changes on MB are the SATA3 and USB 3.0 Interface, as the info we got, now the MB manufacturers are taking SATA3 and USB 3.0 as the key features in next generation product. Although Intel hint that they will put efforts on USB3.0 later, but for the market share, all the MB manufacturers surely will put this features more earlier than you can imagine.

Now Edward get the latest H57 chipset MB from the ASUS, the MB called "P7H57D-V EVO", we may take a look and see the differences on the tranfer interface.

ASUS P7H57D-V EVO, the key feature are the integrated graphic functions.

    P7H57D-V EVO on the board.

It is almost the same as P55 platform.

8+2 Phase PWM, the style is like P7P55D series too.

DDR3 Socket plus the MemOK! function, 2 Phase PWM with OV_DRAM jumper design.

H57 is the single chip solution, but the heatsink on it is COOL for sure.

    IDE+SATA Interface.

The bottom of the MB, all the connections are here.

PCI interfaces, Dual PCI-E x16 slot, you can also PLX chip inside.

Graphic interface, comes with HDMI, D-Sub, DVI are here, it really looks like the 785G MB. the blue USB slot is the USB 3.0 interface.
