  • P7P55D-E Deluxe is enough for i7 4Ghz?

    Good evening gentlemen.

I'm building my new computer and it's almost ready i just have to choose the mobo and i would like to know your opinions about the Asus P7P55D-E Deluxe and if i will be able to hit 4Ghz without much trouble and make it stable for 24/7 with power saving options turned on like C1E to downclock when the computer is idle. What do you guys think? Is it possible with this mobo?

I choose this one over the Maximus III formula because i will need USB 3 and SATA 3 in the future and i'm not planning on upgrading my computer so soon.

    Complete rig:

    Core i7 875K 2.93Ghz (CoolerMaster V8 + Artic Silver 5)
    P7P55D-E Deluxe (probably)
    G.Skill DDR3 2200Mhz 4gb 2x2 w/ Fan (F3-17600CL7D-4GBPIS)
    EVGA GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5
Gigabyte GT 240 512 GDDR5 (Just for PhysX)
    1 SSD OCZ Vertex 2 120GB
    4 HD's SATA (6TB)
Power Supply XFX 650 XXX Modular
    Gabinete CM HAF 932

The processor is unlocked and i will try to reach 4Ghz with the memory G.Skill @ 2000Mhz CL 6-9-6-24 but as i said before i really would like to keep the power saving options turned on because the machine will stay up for 24/7 and stable of course.

    My Best Regards,
    Queiroz

because of the power phase design.. my computer will stay on 24/7 and i want to try to hit 4ghz stable enough to handle the power saving options... what do you think?

btw i prefer gigabyte and my current config is E8400 @ 3.8Ghz 1.26v with GA-EP45-DSR3 and it's almost 2 years old running 24/7 stable but i was searching for gigabyte with atleast 2 pci-ex 16 (SLI/CFX @ 8x) but almost every P55 mobo except for the GA-P55A-UD7 which is overpriced ... all others disable the second PCI-Ex 16 and cut the first one to half 8x and that's why i'm choosing Asus this time because i want USB 3 and SATA 3 cus i wont upgrade my computer so soon and i hope i won't regret my decision

      Best Regards,
      Queiroz

do you know theres newer mb's and chips coming out first quarter of 2011? new p67 i think and 2011 sockets to replace x58 and i forget the replacement p55 socket but its different from p55,why dont you go for Asus P6X58D-E???? and skip p55?

sata6 is pretty much useless anyway due to very poor marvell drivers

p.s have you looked at the i5 750/760 chips? they are just as good and cheaper
