  • motherboard compatable with DDR400 for P4?

    building a new system running
    P4 2.8 GHz
    ATI Radeon 9700 pro
    W.D. 80 G.B. Hard Drive
    S.B. Audigy Platinum

and was wondering if there are motherboards that will run DDR 400 or is it worth it to upgrade to RDRAM pc-1066 for the added cost?
if the DDR what motherboard would you recomend? Or just give in and run DDR 333 with an asus P4PE?
apreciate any help on the subject-thanks

The first thing to ask yourself when building a new computer is always what you are going to do with the new system.

P4PE is a nice solution and not to expensive either.
But if you want the top of the line then go with a E7205 granite bay board or a i850e chipset board and 1066 rdram.

Where i live the 1066 rambus solution with board and memory is about the same price as the grabite bay, some tests recentley shows that granite bay not perform 100% in line with 1066, but there is no big difference we are talking about here.

If you are doing memory intensive tasks then go with rdram or granite bay, if not then the P4PE mentioned is cheaper and just as good. I use a 1066 solution and it helps because i encode video and things like that.

Btw, we also had some discussion about the E7205 latley, check it out here:
