    Building PC for sound production/editing.

    Spending $1700 AUD max

    needs to be a full sysyem (kb, mouse, monitor)

    thinking:
    p4 1.8-2.0ghz
    at least 512mb ram
    excessive HDD space for storing digital music. (100-150GB)
    ahhhhh we also want a decent video card :p

    so what are the best parts for a system like this

    Epox 4G4A+ (Lan, vid, sound) $280
    512mb DDR $247
    Western Digital 80GB $291
    Sweet Black case with 300W $148
    Samsung 17" flat screen $319
    Panasonic 1.44" $33
    LG 16x DVD, 48x read/write, 24x re-Write $192
    Logi-Tech Optical $45
    Cheapo KB $22

    Total: $1907


    its a bit over, but hey
    i aint paying for it....

      I hope ya P4 does better at sound production/editing than mine does at doin' SETI w/u's. :cry:

      It must be those 2 extra FPU's. :?:

        Sounds like a nice system
        On-board gfx tends to slow the system down by giving cycles to the gfx card.
        But I doubt you will notice it.
        and the sse2 on the P4 will go well at that type of work.
        Killer Rig all up
        also Wiggo on another note doesn't the memory bandwidth of p4's make them better at SETI
        When AMD takes the cake with in F@H
