installing NAV after klez infection

hello all,

friend of mine downloaded all stupid little things thru email and was infected with klez.. i got the tool from symantec and ridded the hd of it... now when i try to reinstall norton antivirus 2003 or symantec corp 8.1, it goes thru setup but as soon as real time protection tries to run, i get a 'failed to start' error.. i downloaded the tool from symantec which is supposed to fix all the registry keys associated with symantec products, however this did not work---anyone know how i can get this program to work again??? thx a mil

go for an online virus scan at Symantec Security Check
