It doesn't seem to be causing any problems, but I don't like little red and white X's

anyway, I have a very busy day so I can't spend a much time figureing this out ; I would appreciate some help in getting this solved quickly

since it is not giving you any trouble then i suggest you should leave it alone. it seems to me that while tweaking your XP install, you disabled the inbuilt CD-Burning service and this is wat XP is trying to start.

i don't have any specific solution but you can try this thing out.
go to control panel --> administrative tools --> component services.
or type "dcomcnfg" (without quotes) in run window and press enter.

now start expanding the "component services" tree in left pane till you open the "DCOM Config" tree.
look for "Microsoft IMAPI". right click on it and go to properties. In properties window, go to location tab.
uncheck "Run application on this computer". Click on "Ok".

i hope you will be done now.

Thanks, I did disable that service...

I tuned off Microsoft IMAPI, so I'll know soon enough if that is it :)

I never thought to look there, I was looking for another Service to disable

Thanks asklepios, I appreciate it
