help ...undetected cd rom drives

i dunno what happened but like none of my cd or dvd rom drives are showing up in "My Computer" or anywhere else..i tried going to device manager and uninstalling them and then going to add hardware to have the plug and play feature work. so far the computer recognizes the drives but it cant install them in it says

for both of my cd drives it says

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)


what can i do?

Your version of Windows is always helpful when you ask about error messages. Each version has their own peculiarities. Anyway, always check out the Microsoft Knowledge Base for info about Windows/IE/Office type problems. After so many years, Microsoft has figured out that their software really is that buggy and have made a decent effort to keep things running smoothly.
