  • problem of installing Window xp pro on SATA hard drive

    Hi all

I have built my new computer with:

    AMD XP 2800
    Asus A7V600-X moutherboard
    Consira PC3200 512MB
Westen Dritial 120G Serial ATA----formated by my friend
    Sapphire radeon 9600xt 256MB

after the first time i hit the installing problem, i went for a research. then, i have changed the BIOS:

    Other Boot Device-----SCSI Boot divice
reorder the boot-----CD-Rom, Other boot device, removable disk, IDE disk
and found the SATA diver from my motherboard disk for install.

therefore, I have tried to install XP again with adding the SATA diver by F6. then the install was fine( even went over inserting the product key!!).

However, i left the room for 2 hour, when i came back, the screen went back the beginning install again. i use F3 to leave and reboot, i have took out the xp CD. the screen just showing "Disk Boot Failure, insert disk and pass Enter". when i try to reinstall it just wont go the Window mode of installion.

I even tried formatted again in the setup process. May anyone plz plz plz help!!!

    Sorry for the poor English!

Have you looked in the bios for "boot sector virus protection"? It looks like is enabled by default, and this could be the problem. You want it disabled when installing Windows.
