Backup Help........Please

I have a computer that I used to be able to use XP backup utility.
But now when I try to backup I get an error that says a catastrophic error occured and the backup could not start.

Is there any way to repair the backup software ar uninstall and reinstall the backup software?

If I had another free backup software I would use it.

The backup device is a dvd burner that works fine.
I can drag and drop to create the backup, but I need to be able backup at scheduled times.
I can't even backup to another partition on the same pc.

this is for scheduled backups on a workstation based server.

u can try nortons backup utility but since u know which files u want why don't u just do it yourself? just copy them somewhere else or u can compress them and store them or create an image file or whatever u want. if u need someone to remind u just have windows task schedul to report it.
