I can't preview pics or see thumbnails anymore in windows explorer

I no longer see previews of jpegs or bmp's (or anything else) in the preview pane in windows explorer anymore. Also, when I go to thumbnail mode, the pics don't thumbnail, but the movies do.

In folder settings I made sure the "do not cache thumbnails" option is UNCHECKED (so that it caches thumbnails) and "display simple folder view in Explorer's olders list" is unchecked.

What else could I do to restore these features?

Clear your cache, then try it

thumbs.db doesn't exist in some of the directories where this problem is happening. I deleted it in every other directory, still nothing. :(
