computer crash to blue

ok, so earlier today i was running a lot of stuff on my computer. i was installing warcraft 3, running avast virus check, using limewire, and browsing the interent, when all of the sudden my computer stops everything and averts to a blue system failure thing saying that it's shutting down to prevent damage and doing some physical memory dump. wtf is this crap!

i'm using windows xp pro, i always update, what's going on?

my machine is a amd 4200 manchester, 2 gigs ocz pc4000, zalman aftermarket cooler, dfi lanparty sli-d mobo, so on and so on.

any ideas besides just a system overload?
