Running Windows Vista

im sure many people have heard about microsoft's new O/S, Windows Vista.
two questions:
wasnt it going to be called longhorn? or have i got the wrong end of the stick?
and can i obtain a free trial of the beta release? im just interested, thats all. any help would be appreciated.

Longhorn was the developmental name, the release name will be Vista ....... there are beta versions out there for download ....... Google it
