  • Removing "Time Calculating" screen from Vista

I am so sick of it. I am running Vista Home Basic (32 Bits, no service packs) and everytime I copy a file it calculates how long it will take. I said, "Hm, big deal." But when I transfer really large files to my USB HDD it calculates the time for so long. I don't wan't to calculate the time, I want to just do it!

Any hack that can remove the "calculating time remaining" thing?

SP1 is not yet officially released to the masses. You can find it through various bit torrent sites but would be better and safer to wait a few more weeks (mid March?) for the official release. Not sure if it'll be a regular update (really big one) or just available on the Windows update page.

hmm I got an email from MS saying it was released and ready to go

There's also been a lot of buzz around how TechNet Plus and MSDN Flash subscribers can get their hands on Windows Vista SP1. You'll be pleased to know that the SP1 update is available for download. More information about how to download SP1 here http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=8313211

Yes .... that would work for those who are TechNet Plus subscribers. Looks like the rest of us will prolly be waiting untill mid march or so if we want a legit download: http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/wi...vista-sp1.aspx ....unless, of course, you know of a backdoor......

Re: Removing "Time Calculating" screen from Vista

Vista SP1 has been delayed again for public release due to breaks it causes with many installed 3rd party programs and no it will not fix the annoyingly slow network transfers.
