  • ServicePackFiles folder....

I have installed SP1 very successfully, can the folder 'Windows\ServicePackFiles\.386' be deleted? It takes up about two hundred and something mb's of valuable space. As a test I renamed it to 'xxxServicePackFiles' and everything seems to work OK.

And one more question... is it created by SP1 or has it always been there (from the original install).

It was created by the service pack hence the name

It is created from SP1 when it was installed.

It is on the hard disk so that when a component of the OS is installed, ie the options of WinXP, network protocols etc they use the latest files, rather than the old files from either your Win XP CD or install directory.

DO NOT REMOVE THEM - as your PC will complain when it needs to find them again.
