new xp install & sp1

is it possible to install sp1 before activating a new xp install?
can that save you a couple hundred?

Yes, it's possible, the SP1 installer doesn't care if you've activated or not.

You'll still have to activate it eventually (30 days), however.

So, install XP, install sp1, install apps, back up system, use activate xp, run incremenatal backups.

Next sp release, set bios clock to origanal backup date, restore from original backup, run sp install, restore correct bios date, use acticate xp, restore from incremental backup,......
does that cover all the bases?......:)
