I installed Winxp sp1 on xp home edition. My volume control slider now gives only a "beep" from within the pc tower. Possibly the sound card. Instead of the comforting "ding" which let me know approximately the level of noise coming out of the speakers, I just get the "beep" which does not let me judge how loud the sound will actually be. The slider control DOES work, however, & sound does play thru the speakers, not the tower. I can adjust the volume with it, just not as familiar or easy as before.
