  • Invalid System Disk Error

I'm getting an "invalid system disk" error on my computer, yet there is no media in any of the drives (floppy/zip/cdrom). I tried booting off of my win98 CDRom, but it won't go into windows, just DOS. I've also tried to make the hard drive the first boot device. No luck. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this problem?

    Thanks ahead.

The bios can't find the os on your hard drive. You also can't boot to the Windows envirnment from the cd. When you boot from the cd or a floppy, at the dos prompt, type: dir/w c: and hit enter. Let us know what it comes up with on the screen. Hopefully, it will be your regular directory structure.

The root directory lists config.sys, the windows directory, and a couple other unrelated directories that were on the hard drive.

What exactly led up to this problem? Did you change the configuration of your IDE channels or install some program? :?:

          It's fixed.

Not entirely sure, I was helping someone else out. Thanks.
