  • Unable to get UDMA in Win2k

Ok, I am a having a little trouble getting my win2k box set up to do use DMA for the harddrive. I have a Elements 830CF motherboard which is capable of dma as well as a Maxtor 30g drive, also capable of udma. I am using the 80 conductor cable, and everything should be working.

It is not. I have tried everything I can think of (enabled dma in bios, checked settings in device manager, etc) Is there something I am missing?

    Thanks

I see that noone has replied to your query. I'm not sure if you have tried this, however it is relevant to your dilemma: Page three of TweekTown's Windows XP Tweaking Part Two: http://www.tweaktown.com/document.ph...Id=145&dPage=3
addresses setting UDMA mode. If you have already discovered it, great. If not, give it a whorl

Thanks for the link. Sadly it did not fix the problem. I FINALLY figured this one out. Google Rules!

I have a Elements 830CF motherboard with a Maxtor 5T030H3 HD. I did some searching and came up with SISIDE.exe. This program enables uDMA for some SIS based motherboards. Ran it and rebooted, and I am golden.

      Thanks.
