Making a swapfile partition? What size?

When i make a new install of XP should i make a partitiom just for a swapfile? Is it faster and if i should what would be the size of it? Just the size of de swapfile itselfs?

So for example: now my swapfile with 256 of ram is about 400mb. Should the partition also be 400MB or should it be larger then that?

Should I also make a partition for the OS (XP)? I've got a 13 GB disk. Then its all a bit more ordered. Or is this not performance winning (or slowing down the system?)
