Whats teh diff between SP1 and reg XP?

Whats the difference? I have XP that I bought in Oct. When I go to the windows update web site they had Service Pack 1 right at the top. Is it just an addon to reg XP or another new OS?

Service Packs are basically Updates of Windows released by Microsoft. Fixing bugs that have been reported

It would be a good idea to download Sp1 and install it

The above is correct, but you can find more info on SP1 in this thread.

SP1 is just a collection of all the important patches released in Windows Update since XP came out, up until SP1's release. I highly recommend that you install it, particularly after a clean reinstall of XP.

Alternatively, if you're afraid of it, just go to Windows Update and download and install ALL the critical patches and most of the recommended ones relating to system problems/updates.

I know which method I think is easier :)

Cool. I didnt know if it was a totally new version of XP and if it would take 4 hours to download.
