If you are all serious tweakers you most likely use extra software to increase the performance of your box. This is the thread to list all that extra junk you use, and why! :afro:

For me I use:
RegClean
RegCleaner
Norton Antivirus 2003
Ad-Aware 6

The RegClean/RegCleaners are for cleaning of the windows registry, and the ad-aware is for spyware removal :thumb: All of the software listed works extremely well :O)

You mentioned increaced performance. All of the software you listed is just maintenance stuff. Do you use anything to enhance performance too?

They all affect your performace in some way tho. Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoft.nu/support/download/) CAN speed up your surfing by getting ride of most of those nasty pop-ups on your computer. RegCleaners remove useless keys and in turn speed up seek time. Norton removes viruses that can lag your system quite a bit.

Diskeeper (http://diskeeper.com/downloads/menu.asp): Deframenting tool, really good and quick, much better then windows deframenting program

SiSoftware Sandra Pro (http://www.sisoftware.net/index.html...dl&langx=en&a=): Diagnostics tool, tips for maximizing performance

Spybot Seek and Destroy (http://spybot.safer-networking.de/in...&page=download): Another exelent spyware removal program, also removes security risks such as recently used programs, cookies, and many more. Good for those indepth system cleaning

XBoy - I'm not going to say a word about your AV, but if you should post along those lines..........some serious administrative JuJu is going to fall on you like a ton of bricks.

Im using 7.0 Lite Freeware. (http://diskeeper.com/downloads/menu.asp) I dont see a point in buying the full version unless you need to use it across a network. But yes it is a great utility.

Nother program many people use is Tweak XP (http://www.totalidea.com/frameset-tweakxp.htm) It can acces a lot of hidden registry settings to tweak your system to your likings. As the name implies, its only for WinXP, but I know there is a program similar for 9x systems called TweakUI.

Mr.C, what was the problem with the AV? Something against them in here?

I currently have 5.87 gigabytes used up on my main C: drive which is my WD400 40 gig 7200 rpm. I just got Diskeeper Lite, and it completly defragged the entire thing in exactly 4 minutes! SHIAAAAAAAAAATTTTT!!!!! That is awesome! By far the best 3rd party defragmentation utility I have EVER used!
