  • crossfie on extreme 7

    hello to you all.
    first post coming up.
i have just built a new pc using the extreme 7 and a 2600k ive got it running at 4.6.the board is great with no problems at all.
this is what i want to pick you guys brians with though.
i used my old case as a temporary measure and my h80 cooler blocked the first x16 pci e slot and i have ended up with x16 and x4 pcie. that ok as i get a new case on friday. also i never pluged the crossfire power connector in not sure i need to for two cards.
i am using 2 6970 cards and they dont seem as fast as when used with my old q9650 clocked at 3.8.
so when i move over to the two x16 slots in the new case should i use the crossfire power connector on the motherboard and will this bring my 6970s back up to speed.
    thanks all.

      Being x16 and x4 won't cost you power. A few %, maybe.

The crossfire power plug hasn't been necessary for me. I have 3 6950s running on a Corsair AX850 no problem. Not overclocked, though.

Run a 3dmark11 benchmark and post your graphics score.
