Gone insane rebuilding OS (Win7) using new BIOS (1.15 atm - soon to be 1.20) and installing RealTek drivers - removing them and playing with internal graphics drivers. No joy. Yes the speakers work. Yes I use the Audio panel to change volume. Removed the headsets and keyboard (G510 has speakers out). But the Z68 failed to see any attached speakers! Any ideas? OR RMA? OR buy an audio board - OR (sigh tending to this one) use the G510 Audio out.

Re: No Audio from Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
try disabling front panel jack detection in realtek audio settings, the small yellow folder or set to ac97,should give you sound through headphones/front panel thenGigabyte z77x UP4-TH F11c Modded Bios

Re: No Audio from Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
uninstall realtek drivers
plug all your rear speaker jacks into the mb,plug your front panel header block into the mb,if you have hdaudio block connect that if you have ac97 block only then connect that, then in bios set onboard sound to ac97 if you only have that for front panel audio,or hdaudio if your case has that connector
boot into windows and let win7 install the microsoft audio drivers and see if you get any sound,if you do at the rear but not at the front, pop back in bios and switch onboard from whatever it was set to either hd or ac97 and save/exit,then see if you get sound from the frontGigabyte z77x UP4-TH F11c Modded Bios

Re: No Audio from Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
Dear Cptunreal,
Please kindly refer to below suggestions for testing.
1. Please check that is there any “?” or “!” in the Windows device manager first.
If yes, please download the audio driver from below link and install it to try.
Link: ASRock > Products > Motherboard Series Extreme4 Gen3&o=All
2. Load BIOS default and make sure the [Onboard audio] is enabled in the BIOS.
3. Un-plug the headset and re-plug the headset to check whether the symptom still occur.
4. If possible, please kindly change another headphone or speaker to try.
Thanks for your help!
Have a nice day
ASRock TSD
Emily

Re: No Audio from Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
1) Device manager has no ! or ? - i.e. it sees all my devices
2) BIOS is now 1.20 - seems to work fine - OnBoard Audio is where exactly? AND would I be unable to see the High Def Audio device if it was disabled? And I do see it?
3) Symptom persists when I have completed removed the headset and the keyboard (G510 from Logitech have an audio out 8mm) And used no headset (USB or 8mm). I have had speakers plugged into BOTH the front and back jacks. (Checked the speakers out on other audio systems - they are fine)
4) I have used 2 different sets of speakers and the built in speakers on my ASUS VH242H monitor. No joy...
Still HELP?!

Re: No Audio from Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
onboard audio should be in the bios,it should let you enable/disable it and set to hd audio or ac97Gigabyte z77x UP4-TH F11c Modded Bios
