7900 series video card upgrades for 990FX extreme 4 board

Hi, I am running an ASRock 990FX extreme 4 mb, with 2.0 bios. Looking to upgrade my Powercolor HD 6870 to a 7950 with boost or 7970 series card, any brand. Has anyone had problems with either? If so what is the issues, and any recommendatios for cards ? Thanks
