  • X79 Extreme 6 Audio Issue

    I've got an Asrock X79 Extreme 6. I've got OS installed, various programs, but I absolutely get get no audio output out of any of the jacks. I've re-installed drivers, I've rebuilt the PC. I can see the following:

    - Device is recognized by Windows 7 - 64bit
    - When attempting to playback, I do see levels in the sound mixer.
    - Absolutely no audio in either onboard or front panel jacks.

    What's odd is that i can do a remote desktop session, and can hear audio that way.

    This is the weirdest damn thing I've ever seen.

    * Update -

    I did a re-install of Windows, and just the audio drivers, and only see the digital outputs, nothing else.

    I had some really bizarre issues when first building this system out (looping power ups/downs, various diagnostic codes). I've tested the various components in other computers (Video card, PS, memory). I'm wondering if I should RMA it.

    I should also note that if I remote desktop to the machine, i can hear the audio.

        We need detailed information about ALL OF THE HARDWARE in your system.

        We can best help you after you create a detailed hardware list in the System Specs portion of your
        forum profile http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile.php?do=editprofile at the bottom of the
        profile page or in your forum signature http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile....=editsignature.
        Be sure to include brand names and model numbers.

        After you have added all the hardware information in your PC Specs, send a PM (Private Message) to ASRock TSD - Emily, include a link to this thread, and ask Emily to reply in your thread. If Emily knows your complete hardware setup, she might be able to test for problems using an identical or similar setup.

          You said you've done two Windows 7 installations. Have you installed the basic software, like the chipset INF files, and the Intel Management Engine software?

          What do you see in Device Manager in the Sound, video, and game controllers section? Have you selected and configured a default audio device in the Windows Sound option?
