990FX Extreme 4 --- DPC Latency Spikes linked to Marvell SATA Controller

I have upgraded to beta bios, I have disabled the marvell SATA controller in Bios, but it still keeps popping up in Windows 7 Device Manager. Can't even disable it or uninstall it, it just keeps coming back. It seems to me that the "disable" feature in Bios isn't actually disabling it. Can we have a marvell Sata controller and driver that doesn't cause DPC Latency spikes? If not, can we have a Bios Disable feature for the Marvell that functions properly? I put this system together for audio/video, and I can do neither due to these latency spikes. Thank you

I've never seen a disabled secondary SATA controller enable itself automatically, strange. But then you have eight drives listed in your PC specs, and eight total SATA ports on your board, so it seems something is connected to the Marvell ports. Yes, you should be able to disable the Marvell controller when drives are connected to it, but I wonder if that is related to your problem. Did you try disabling the Marvell controller in Device Manager? If you then uninstalled its driver, and disable it in the BIOS, it will still be enabled after a reboot, and Windows installs a driver?

Just curious, what makes you say the Marvell controller causes DPC latency problems?

A beta BIOS is an unverified BIOS IMO, I never use them.

Nothing is connected to the Marvell Ports. I've installed a PCIE SATA card in hopes that I could disable the turkey on the Motherboard. There's only one place in BIOS where disabling the ports are even suggested as possible...it's the line that asks what mode you want it to be in. Yes, I've tried disabling in DM, but it keeps coming back, and yes to the last question. The problem was detected and isolated by a Latency Monitor program.

Solved. I took out every drive, ensured C: was in SATA 1, Data Drives in 2,3,4 and OPticals in 5 and 6. Two more Data drives on the Marvell ports and no more latency spikes! Yay.
