Please give us more information, are you flashing from DOS, Qflash, or windows? Please try to flash from Qflash or DOS as it is much safer than using @BIOS in windows.
thanks lsd, it is updated to the latest F12, and I have a spare chip handy. The board behaves superbly under a cascade and i'm looking forward to having a play again :)
Sounds good, I do believe you should be fine. I know the 980X works, but if your Xeon does not I am sure they will quickly add support.
I have seen some issues on the UD7 mentioned by a few with the new 5xxx Xeons, locked max uncore at 20 I believe, but Gigabyte usually fixes these things pretty quickly.
Yeah it should work fingers crossed. Perhaps there will be issues with things like high memory dividers but i'll have to wait and see. I havent done any gulftown related mods. I assume they are for the dual socket chips? I'd guess the single socket W3680 would just need a microcode update... but im not sure of too much yet given the scarcity of results at this stage.
I havent done any mods besides the old pcie mod which thankfully wont be needed.
There is a OCP mod to allow higher than 5.4Ghz, but I think it only applies to UD7. I was asking really if you did the hard mod for high Bclk, the PCIE one you mentioned. Ya, not needed unless you want to push bclk, I just wondered
I'm waiting on an email to find out an ETA from an etailer who has them listed for pre order at a decent price. I'll send you a pm. I'm all over it if the eta is reasonable ( a week or 2 max or i'll cave on a 980x)
