I am having BIOS corruption issues when overclocking with version F6c on P67A-UD3. And it would flash to backup after a few reboots. Reverting back to version F5 seems to be stable so far. Anyone else having the same problem with the latest beta?
Anyone knows the solution when you get the 4E error in the LED? Thanks....
1. Program MTRR of M1 CPU
2. Initialize L2 cache for P6 class CPU & program CPU with proper cacheable range
3. Initialize the APIC for P6 class CPU
4. On MP platform, adjust the cacheable range to smaller one in case the cacheable ranges between each CPU are not identical
Well if it wouldn't work, then why would Gigabyte suggest it? I am shocked tho, considering everyone always used DOS to update bios in the past- and now people act like I'm speaking an ancient language.
My experience with updating bios after installing Windows in the past, is that after updating and rebooting into Windows- it will 're-recognize' all your hardware- thus having multiple devices coded in registry... which then led to hardware conflicts. So every time I've updated bios, I've also reinstalled Windows to avoid multiple hardware recognition. I don't know how Win7 handles this, but WinXP would do this after a bios update. Which is why I think it is silly to go through all the trouble to install Windows just to update the bios, then reinstall Windows again just to make sure I have a completely clean install.
I am sure it works, DOS flash I mean, I just suggested @BIOS because I know it works fine and the Dual BIOS recovery is working VERY well in P67 unlike some of the older models. And I said I was unsure about the dos flasher only because I had not personally used it, but as you mentioned it is suggested so I am sure it will work fine.
The reason Qflash doesn't is because it's an older version of Qflash, so it is not compatible with the newer BIOSes until you update the BIOS which updates Qflash as well.
You do not need to reinstall windows with BIOS updates, no matter how they are done, in XP or Vista/Win7. Now, if you had some things disabled in the past such as a LAN or Audio setting in the BIOS, yes if you do not disable those again on the new BIOS they would be installed when you got back into windows. But nothing would be reinstalled that is already installed, I think that mainly happened with XP Pre-SP1, years ago
Windows 7 will not find anything new with a BIOS flash, nothing will be reinstalled, it will just look like you rebooted is all.
How to Update backup Bios?
Mine keeps reverting back to F2 when I screw up.
Tried Alt/F12 on boot up and it does not work for me.
Any suggestions.
Thanks

make sure quick boot is disabled. USB Keyboard is enabled or try ps/2 keyboard.
Try holding alt key as you press power/reset button then repeatedly press F12

Updated to F6D for my P67A-UD5 and i still cannot make it cold boot with 2133mhz 7-10-7-27 at 1.65v. It restarts automatically and enables 1333mhz CL9. I have to go and set it again and than it loads fine w/o restarts. I thinks its more like ram incompatibility or something...
