Do you have a floppy you can use? If so make a bootable MS-DOS Disk with the floppy format screen on another computer and see if that will boot or not. It may not, but I would like you to check if possible
Qflash would not matter or cause this, and it is the proper suggested way of flashing. I think somehow maybe your BIOS is corrupted, and you may end up needing to force/short the BIOS so that the older backup will kick in.
