  • Is C.I.A 2 good for dynamic OC ?

I'm using my main PC among other stuff to encode/transcode video.
I'd like to have the PC OCed only when I'm doing that.
I saw that gigabyte have an C.I.A 2 feature that suppose to OC only when you need it (according to CPU temp?)
    - Is this a good option?
    - is it fine to have the CPU change frequency often? (I assume it only changes the FSP?)
    - does this CIA2 thing even work?
    - is there a better option for dynamic OC?

I don't want to OC this PC the 'standard' way, since it's my main PC and it wasn't meant for OC (see comp list below) and most of my other tasks on it do not require OC.

    setup:
    P35-DS3 (old bios F5)
    4GB of 667MHZ DDR2
    Q6600 B3
    AC Freezer pro

    Thanks

I am curious about this program as well..

I have done much experimenting with this and I think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread!

However I have been unable to find any useful information about this and have been figuring it out myself.

I currently am using a 1:1 memory ratio and have CIA2 set to full throttle! I am still fine tuning but it has been quite a task just to enable the full throttle setting. Keep tuning and look for a new post from me comming very soon regarding this very thing. I hope to start a new thread with a more specific title.

You can save up 8 different bios profiles. One profile can be at stock settings if you want. Other saved profiles can be at whatever degree of overclocking that you want.
Check your mobo user's manual for saving and loading saved bios profiles.

You need to perform extended stress/stability using Prime95 and/or OCCT on ALL bios setups.

yes i have also had very good luck with C.I.A.2...not sure why it gets bashed by people so much
it doesnt raise voltages like many ppl seem to think
one thing i found was to manually set the CPU voltage with C1E and EIST on, that causes it to lower the multiplier at idle without dropping the voltage (which was what caused instability for me), and i have used the CIA2 with top results since i built this computer. (dont ask me why the cpu voltage thing works that way, i have no idea ;) )

i have oc'ed to 3.00, so im dropping to 2.25Ghz at idle, and ramping up to 3.52Ghz at full load with perfect stability...its pretty cool :)
