  • OCing Q6600 and 8Gigs of ram on EP45-UD3P

To start off I want to thank Lsdmeasap for his efforts. I'm currently running at 3.4 after using settings he posted in another thread with only a few changes, gave me a great starting point. I'm not 100% stable yet but getting there. One of my cores errored out running Prime95 after 45 minutes, the other three ran until I had to stop it, about 5.5 hours.

I was specifically curious about running 8 gigs of memory and the tRFC value. I do not pretend to understand very much of these settings, though I am trying, but it was posted that this should be higher when you run more ram, I'm just not sure how hi for 4 x 2GB.

The highest my temps got was 61c during a 5.5 hour run. That seems acceptable. I don't have any kind of clock goal I just want to keep pushing it as high as I can on air and still be stable and cool enough not to break things. It is a lot of fun even if I don't understand it all...yet.

Re: OCing Q6600 and 8Gigs of ram on EP45-UD3P

My (limited) understanding is that tRFC needs to be > 127.5 ns for 1Gbit RAM, >195 ns for 2Gbit devices. Most 2GB DIMMs are built with 1Gbit devices. 68 seems about right for your settings.

I'm running 4x2GB (OCZ Reaper HPC 1066) and I'm finding I need to back off the CAS latency to get things stable. I'm a long way from 1066MHz, but I hope to get there eventually.
