• Memory Timings GA-P35-DS4

I have issues with my dominator memory 8500 (1066)
2 sticks 1 version and 2 sticks another version also .05v discrepancy.
Overclocked to 3.0ghz x9 100mhz 3.2 ram divider running at 1066 ratio 5.8 5/5/5/15 timings +.30v
Memtest won't run it split the packs and they both run with no errors.
Contacted corsair they suggested drop to 667mhz 4/4/4/12 timings i had to use 2.0 divider and it runs very well ratio 1.1 also +.30v
Memtest still won't work!!
Benchmarked 06 and got a extra 400 points also race 07 runs a lot better also getting better frame rates using fraps.
I don't understand i thought i was running my memory at a lower speed but my pc is faster?
Also should i replace these sticks with 2x2gb and sell the other pairs?
Any one help on this im well confused.
Thanks

Bought the other 2 sticks and that didn't run memtest aswell.
Did a bit of googling and found another memtest+v2.11
Ran that and it worked.
What's that all about??

Re: Memory Timings GA-P35-DS4

Just bought the OCZ 4GB PC2-8500 DDR2 Fatal1ty Edition (2x2Gb)1066 memory, but can I get it to run on the GA-P35-DS4

I've set the timings 6,7,7,20 - volts +0.25 - SPD 3.20 (1066) but still no joy. The DDR voltage does not change in the bios (system health) says 1.8v and I cannot get the SPD set to 1066 (pics not mine, fro the net) mine always says 800.

Any info would be great, and If anyone else got has got this ram is it any good?

Cheers

Well WTF are you doing with those timings? If those are their standard settings, then forget about 1066 and run them at 800 5-5-5-15. They will actually run faster that way.

The picture above is not mine, this mine below. As you can see I can change everything apart from the SPD which is set at 800.

No, i meant your timings. 6-7-7-20... What kind of timings are those? And i see your memory multiplier IS set to 1066. On the left there are stock/JEDEC values, on the right there is the actual value. I see nothing wrong with your settings, except that this RAM you have has pretty high latency. See if it can run 5-5-5-15, maybe bump the voltage a bit... It would be much better.

Those are the timings for this ram.

TY, I'll set them to 5.5.5.15 and let you know how I get on.

Re: Memory Timings GA-P35-DS4

Yeah, looks like it's some of the first 1066 overclocker kits. It should do CL5 with some extra voltage... I see they have 2.0v default voltage, which is +0.2 in your board's BIOS. They'll be perfectly fine with 2.2v, so don't be afraid to bump the DIMM voltage to +0.4.

If they don't run at 5-5-5-15 even with 2.2v, try 5-7-7-20 or 6-5-5-18 or 6-6-6-18... Just get the timings as aggresive as you can, and don't set the voltage higher than 2.2.

Re: Memory Timings GA-P35-DS4

Those look to me to be "Budget Chip/IC" Based Modules due to the High CAS Stock timings. They are listed as 777-20 here at Newegg but 677-20 at OCZ site, what does CPU-z SPD Tab show you? >>

Newegg.com - OCZ Fatal1ty Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

OCZ Technology | Products | Memory | OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 Fatal1ty 4GB Dual Channel

Either way, not the best choice for 1066 memory at all with those timings. Of course with proper settings they may run 555-15/18 though and that would be more acceptable, not sure though since they are spec'd with such high CAS they may not?

They are only warrantied to 2.05V so keep your warranty in mind, if that matters to you

If you would like some suggested settings please give me your full settings you are trying that fail and I can advise back >>>

Re: Memory Timings GA-P35-DS4

TY guys for your help, decided to return the memory to the suppliers. Stuck me old memory back in for the time being, Patriot PDC22G6400LLK PC2-6400 (800MHz) 4-4-4-12, 2.1V 2GB.

This is the settings I'm running this @ 4.4.4.12 - 2.144v, What do you think of these setting or should I push for more? not sure what the EPP profile 1 & 2 (full) setting mean below.

Code:
Memory SPD

Cheers!

I wouldn't run any RAM at 2.3v. Basically what the EPP profiles say is that it can run 5-5-5-15 at 1000MHz with 2.3v. I bet it can do it with your current 2.1 as well.
