Re: Addin Raid to existing vista 32 bit
8.8 is out (8.8.0.1009)
Download Locations
All you need to do is Install the Matrix Storage Manager, then reboot and enable RAID in the BIOS, then save and apply and reboot back to windows and open the Matrix Program and create your array.
What guides had you been looking at that made you think it was difficult?

OK When I run it I get the message "This computer does not meet the min requirements ofr installing the software" and exits. I installed the chipset utility. I DO meet all the hardware and software requirements..Any ideas?Take care,

Re: Addin Raid to existing vista 32 bit
You may need to manually install the RAID Driver by the .INF file then, and then reboot to the BIOS and enable RAID and then create your array with the program.
Sorry I have not done this for quite some time so It may be very different now. Let me have a look around and see what I can find you. What Guide had you been looking at?
You could also do it the cheap and dirty way >>
Unplug your system drive and set it aside, install the 2 Other disks you want to be RAID 1 into ports 2 & 3 (Physically SATAII 1 and SATAII 2)
Then Boot into the BIOS and set your Settings for the Intel Controller to RAID, then reboot and go into the Intel RAID ROM (Control + I) and create your array and save it.
Then plug back in your OS Disk back into SATAII 0 (This is where you should have it). Then boot into the BIOS and be go into Advanced BIOS page, then into Hard Disk Boot Priority and move your OS Disk back to the top of the list.
Then save/apply F10 and reboot to load windows. Then you should be good to go, you will see the Disks on the AHCI BIOS screen labeled as Controlled By the RAID BIOS and the NON RAID OS Disk will show as NON MemberLast edited by Lsdmeasap; 03-14-2009, 04:52 AM.

Re: Addin Raid to existing vista 32 bit
You know, you could easily just add these two disks to the Gigabyte/J.Micron Controller (Purple Ports) and then enable that in the BIOS and install the driver/program in windows and then reboot and create the array (Control +G)
While this would not be best, it would save you all this trial and error hassle would be easily done. I do not think you need to reinstall your OS to do the things mentioned above, in my last post, or my first one. Both methods I noted should work fine, the driver update via device manager, or the method I outlined in my second reply
Settings to enable >>>
Integrated Peripherals
Onboard SATA/IDE Device (GIGABYTE SATA2 Chip) ............. Enabled
Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode (GIGABYTE SATA2 Chip) ........... RAID/IDE

Re: Addin Raid to existing vista 32 bit
While these methods get an array built non of them have the OS on the array.......I want to mirror the current OS disk. I realize copying the disk is no big deal, but what if i only have 2 drives, not 3?Last edited by HemiRick; 03-14-2009, 12:11 PM.Take care,

Re: Addin Raid to existing vista 32 bit
I give up, I guess the faster read speeds are not really worth this hassle, plus if just copy the 1st disk to the 2nd once a week or so, this seems like a much more secure way to deal with my data. In Raid 0 any problem instantly exists on both drives.Take care,
Rick
