  • E8400+EP45-DS3 overclocked gaming issue..NEED HELP PLZ!!

    my system specs:
CPU:Intel core duo E8400 3ghz, OCd to ghz
    VGA:Nvidia gtx 260
    MB:Gigabyte Ep45-DS3
    Transcend DDr2-800 2gb x2
    HD:320gb
    Power:550watts
    AeroflowFx 26 cooler

    Okay my bios settings
    9x445
    MCH Frequency latch =400 MHZ
    2.00d multiplier
    5-5-5-15
    CPU voltage:1.40v

so I've successfully overclocked my cpu to 4ghz but what's odd is that I stress tested my computer with orthos and it lasted over eight hours without errors, but when I launched the Crysis game something very dissapointing appeared, when I get to the very first explosion scene, my computer reboots....now I tested other games that are less detailed in graphics such as NBA 2k9, MLb, dark sector, and there were no reboots or errors... even Far Cry 2 ran successfully...but then another abortive result came up, when playing WATCHMEN, my computer reboots again!

I'm kind of callow in overclocking, so can anyone give me some advises?

I'm assuming you that without OC the PC works fine?

Prime95/Orthos etc. stability does not mean that the PC is 100% stable, the fact that it is stable in Prime does mean that you're not far away from complete stability though.

My guess is that this is the PSU. When you only stress your CPU your PSU isn't nearly stressed as much as when you run a game where CPU and GPU are working full-time.
If you ahve a no-name 550W PSU then that's very likely your problem right there.

really? so you think the psw is the problem?
My psu brand is HEC and it's based in Taiwan don't know if you've heard of it?
well it's really a pain in the ass not being able to stablize my OC....
I just wanna enjoy extreme gaming after school....don't wanna worry about this crap when I'm asleep cuz I'm really suffering from insomnia recently...
I've researched a few posts related to my board and cpu and I've keyed in the same data they recommended which they said would bring optimal results, but then my pc wouldn't even boot normally...
