  • Q9550/UD3P BSOD Problem at windows startup

    My system:

    Q9550 E0 @ 4.03GHz (475x8.5) 1.296v
    GA-UD3P F7
    Mushkin 4GB DDR2 1066 @ 950 1.98v
    Geforce 8800GT 182.08
    Corsair HX640
    Vista x64 with latest updates

    My problem:
Random times, I would get a BSOD [0x00000124] at windows startup, just once the desktop appears, BSOD happens, at this stage, there is no much stress happening to the system so I wonder what is causing this BSOD. I read maybe it is the 8800GT causing it.

This PC passed this tests without problems
    OCCT CPU Stable 5H
    Prime 95 Bend Stable 5H
    Linpack 15 passes
    Cinebench R10 64 @ 50 Runs
    3DMark06 @ 50 Runs
    memtest 86 @ 2 passes

So I really wonder about this BSOD which occur at windows startup just before loading my deskop.

    My settings:

    Channel B Ref [ 0.900 ]...................[ 0.960 ] ---> ET6 reads 0.870

What do guys think, maybe adding some volt to the NB/CPU or changing some references might help?

Re: Q9550/UD3P BSOD Problem at windows startup

BSOD error code 0x00000124 is most often too little or to much Vtt, 0x00000101 would be Vcore most often

From your settings you have posted I would think you may need to bump that Vtt up to 1.3 maybe.

I'd need to see all your settings to say for sure, but I would try bumping that to 1.3 and lower MCH Core to maybe 1.24-1.28 and see if you have any better luck

I tried 1.30 VTT but it didn't help

So I tried to add MCH volt to 1.32 and till now no BSOD

Re: Q9550/UD3P BSOD Problem at windows startup

update: got BSOD at windows startup again using 1.30v / 1.32v MCH / 1.28v 1.30v VTT

I'm going to try 1.26v MCH Core and 1.22VTT to see if is going to help

is it better to leave references @ auto?

update2: BSOD again using 1.26v MCH Core and 1.22VTT

        Prime Failed after 1 hour using 1.26MCH / 1.22VTT

        currently testing 1.28v MCH / 1.24VTT

next step if it fails, I will bump CPU vCore 1 notch, I also doubt if my CPU / MCH reference are not setting correctly, not sure what the correct settings to use

going to run prime for some more time

here is my settings, passed 9h 53min prime 95 blend test, I don't know what I should do if I get BSOD at windows startup again, I'm sure it will be a software issue or so as my system at least is 98% stable which should not crash at windows startup!

Re: Q9550/UD3P BSOD Problem at windows startup

Hello, I'm still having BSOD at windows statup (0x00000124), although in windows everything is stable and I can use the PC without any BSOD for days.
Si I really don't know why this BSOD happen, it exactly happen at the area where windows vista load drivers (loading bars screen) and it is very random.
Settings I tried with no difference:
Higher VCORE / VTT / MCH / lower and higher references. BSOD still happen
Tried different LAN / VGA driver. BSOD still happen

My other step is to play with the performance level settings, it was set to 9, I changed it to 10, also I changed Performance Enhance from Turbo to Standard.
So I will wait and see it helps or not.
