Try as I might I can't get s/pdif working on my GA-73PVM-S2H rev 1.1 mobo running vista ultimate. Nope, nothing. Audio o/p device is s/pdif, Media Center is set to s/pdif toslink, Bios is audio device enabled and Hdmi enabled, drivers of all types (Realtek updated drivers, someone suggested Nvidia drivers). I can see the red light, the cable works (tested on other equipment) and all other equipment works. I'm pretty convinced this is a Vista issue but have no idea what the stupid OS wants from me. Incidentally, I'm trying to play wma lossless through the s/pdif, although CD's don't work either.

Re: GA-73PVM-S2H S/PDIF problem
Hi,
I know one way you can get audio through SP/DIF.
You will need AC3Filter. Download and install this, and set the audio over SP/DIF. If this filter is not being picked by default when you are playing files which have AC3 audio, then maybe you would need to install Zoom Player, which would allow you to configure this.
Hope this helps..
