Won't recognize Epson 3200 Photo scanner installed new drivers from Epson , this worked with the older computer pent3 now duo core, added usb/ide card to make sure the motherboard was running USB2.0. Tried new bios for processor that helped the processor speed up to advertised 2,8ghz but still can't get the 4 gigs memory to run at 1066, tried using the tweaking program but it wouldn't allow the processor to run at advertised speed.
    Thank You for looking

    Re: Ga-g31m-es2l

    What OS are you using?

Have you installed the latest Intel Chipset Drivers yet, if not you need to >>
    Software License Agreement

No USB/IDE card is needed, this board is USB 20 compliant as it is.

You need to be sure you load optimized defaults in the BIOS after you flash the BIOS, then save and apply and reboot back to the BIOS and enter all your settings again.

You will need to set the ram voltage/MCH Voltage and Memory Multiplier to get your ram to run at 1066, you may also need to raise your FSB to get 1066. Depends and I really cannot say for sure since you did not list any of your specs. Once you list your specs I can help you get your system running at stock specs. I will post a template below, add your specs and your settings you are using now and I will advise back proper ones for you

You need to enable these settings in the Integrated Peripherals Section of the BIOS for USB 1.0/1.1/2.0 to work >>

    Integrated Peripherals
    USB Controller ........................... Enabled
    USB 2.0 Controller ...................... Enabled

Legacy USB storage detect .......... Enabled or Disabled. Either should work for your printer, Disabled just disables USB Devices from being scanned at boot time, they will function in windows just fine either way.

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

I guess I was in a tither when I asked for help.

I downloaded the newest drivers from your site and installed, have not installed the Intel site drivers yet. Did load the latest drivers from the Gigabyte site hoping the manufacturer would supply the latest drivers.
      Loaded the Optimized defaults

tried the manual settings for the CPU and memory but it would hang at any manual clocking to arrive at the manufacturer spec went back to the defaults to use the computer

        Re: Ga-g31m-es2l

Did you load and apply optimized defaults after you flashed the BIOS, then save and reboot back to the BIOS before making changes? If you did not, please do now.

OK, looks like you may need to use the hotkey to see all your BIOS Settings. On the MAIN page of the BIOS press Control + F1 and the screen will flash, then go into the MIT Section and you will find the rest of your BIOS settings.

I need a link to your ram, or the model # please. Then I can advise you of settings

          Thank you for the reply:
Here is the link to the Ram

          OCZ Technology | Products | Memory | OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Fatal1ty Edition Dual Channel

Yes I did load the optimized defaults in the BIOS after I flashed the BIOS, then saved F10 and reboot back to the BIOS and entered all my settings again I can't get a higher multiplier. I don't think I have all the necessary knowledge for this newer Bios settings
I will get the rest of the information later this week, the computer is being used that makes it difficult to work on.
          Thank You

Hi sorry for the time lag but other problems put on the front burner.

Followed your advice to get the other bios settings.
I downloaded and installed the newest drivers from the Intel site.

Were you able to locate the site from the link for the memory?

I don't think this site allows live links.

Is there a way to freeze the first page of the bios to read the bios version? Its there about 2 seconds.

              Re: Ga-g31m-es2l

Live links are fine, thanks! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner

What did you mean when you said you could not get a higher multiplier?

Since you do not have MCH Voltage adjustments you may always have issues with more than 2GB of ram because you cannot raise that. It would be in Auto and likely raise if you overclock, but who knows and since you cannot check it with anything nor adjust it you will never know.

              Please try these settings >>

Robust Graphics Booster___________ [Auto or Fast]

C.I.A. 2__________________________ [?] << not sure on your board, maybe C.A.M I see you have that as an option, try it on low or disabled if you can?

For now, leave all below except tRD (Static tRead Value) and tRFC (Refresh to Act Delay) on auto, set those two mentioned though to highest values. I will put optimal for all but just set the two mentioned above for now leave the rest on auto
