P35-S3G problems with OC and BIOS flashing

sup all,

wanted to try OCing my comp here and ran into a couple of problems

this is my comp:
gigabyte p35-s3g @ f4
4gb g.skill PC6400 5-5-5-15
leadteak 9600GT
C2D E8200

1. when trying to increase the fsb just by a tiny bit, the computer restarts twice and then loads default settings to boot

some say it's incompatibility between the mobo and 9600gt and other say it's because of some auto settings on the bios

is there any definite answer to the issue with 9600gt?

2. second problem has been solved, apparently just had to change USB ports and it worked... running on f4 bios now
wondering what has been fixed on f5b?

help will be greatly appreciated!

That card should be fine in your board, PCIE 2.0 is backwards compatible

Not sure what is changed in F5b, but I see it is the latest available. If you flash please use Qflash here is a guide just in case >>

I can post F5a or F5b for you if you would like to try both, but I would go with F5b first myself

thanks for your reply! here is the info you requested

as you can see, i increased cpu voltage to 1.3v
locked the pci express to 100
did performance enhance to standard
and just upped the fsb from 333 to 350

the problem i get is 2 restarts and all settings go back to default

CPU = Intel C2D E8200
Motherboard = GA-P35-S3G
BIOS Version = F5b
Ram = 2x2GB of G.Skill PC6400

2 restarts and defaults loaded means incorrect settings used, as you suspect already I am sure

Please post the exact settings for me you set and I will advise back, sounds like you still have set something to low or not used enough voltage to something.


You did start by loading optimized defaults only right? If not, you must, then save/apply/reboot back to the BIOS to make your changes. Please see here for tips on loading optimized >>

then back into bios and applied oc settings
then save and exit

Please give me your FULL Exact settings, all at once, that you are setting. If you leave something in Auto mark Auto, if you manually set it put the value.

Sorry to prolong this, but I need to know so I can see what or why you may be failing to bootup properly

What do you get for voltage drop anyway? I mean when you can boot what is your actual voltage at idle compared to the BIOS setting amount?
