Do you guys remember that discussion about our boards not being stable above 483 FSB or something... and how the Gigabyte rep said wait 6 months... What do you make of the revs.. 1.0, 1.1 and now 1.6 ... that is a pretty big jump.. anyone have anyone on the inside that could give details on what changed?

The 6 in 1.6 is to signify the inclusion of "Smart 6", it's not a huge leap in dsign.

The 490 FSB thing's a load of crap. I've never met a rep yet who actually knows everything about the products he sells. I have on the other hand met plenty of reps who make sh1t up to sound clever/interesting.

The "Wait 6 months" was also a bit of an over estimate, and maybe referred to the P45 with the 24 power phases, which should be out soon. If that's the only change, then again, it's not going to do much for a true FSB limit, as CPU power phases have nothing to do with the MCH. You may see higher clocks/FSB purely because the CPU needed more/cleaner power, but again, that's got nothing to do with the MCH directly.

I believe what reps say about as much as I believe in the Easter bunny.

            Ok...

Prime Large failed after about 3hrs initially but Prime Small ran for 24hrs without failure. I rebooted and raised (New approach for me) the CPU Ref one notch (VTT @ 1.2) making it up two in total and tried Large again, one core failed at 10hrs and the other at 13hrs.

Going to reboot and make a note of the settings...

IMHO.. if running something causes a failure.. then you have a problem.. Unless it is just bad Karma issues.. then I would say an exercism is in order!

I play games while running prime95.. I really go for max stress.

Try running Prime95 large FFTs again, and start downloading some TV episodes about 15 minutes to an hour after you've started your stress test to see if the failure is repeatable.

I've run Prime95 and OCCT simultaneously without any issues, but this appears to be counter productive.

In some threads, posters are running extreme games while they're stress testing.

D-and-W did you go back to F9? Did you have a problem with F10x ?

I'm having the same problem as you. I can go 24 hrs+ and then the next day it says after 12hrs on large FFT in Prime95

Not gone back (YET!) to F9, I get pretty much the same results on F10x to be honest.

I am HOPING to get the bathroom finished this weekend so I should have some more time for playing after that...
