What do you mean by this?

In fact sometimes (well it happened about 3 times in total) I power off the PC and for some unknown reason I get stuck in reset loop, and it won't go away until I clear the CMOS.
I had to redo the settings based on the template I posted here.

Screw it, went back to 533x7.5, no patience for this crap anymore :(

For my extended stability tests, I want a level playing field, starting with "clean" start.
The 15 minute wait is for the system to stabilize and complete its initial housekeeping.
      Overkill? Maybe.
I use the same approach when performing benchmarks.

**edit** Are you saving various bios settings as profiles? This would simplify things when you need to restore your bios settings and ensure that you've got the exact settings that you want.

I was getting Prime failures in less than an hour with 480x9 (IBT passing fine) so decided to try more DRAM Voltage, upping it from 2.02 to 2.06.

This morning I was presented with a BSOD, of the 00124 variety but checking the Prime results log it occured @ 6hrs 10mins which is kind of, well...an improvement?

I will post back with the template but does anyone have any ideas while I rip out our kitchen?

          I found new strength overnight.
Will do last attempt at 540:
loaded optimized settings and redid the template. Let's see. The only change is the memory ref voltages set to auto, VDIMM to 2.1. If it fails, I will increment up to 2.2 and then try the same with 1200 driving strength. If it still fails, I will settle down to 533x7.5, which is still better than what I used to have ages before up until now. Phew.

Ok something is seriously wrong, because what used to be perfectly stable instantly fails. FFS!!!

Check back in the thread, I had the exact same thing happen with me. I think I had to up either MCH Core of VCore to rectify...

I refuse to go to 1.3.

All of a sudden yes, exactly.

Why not just test 1.3, whats the worst than can happen (No singing now...)!

I am back to my 6hr **mins failures now with 480x9...

I don't get it why should the PC screw up all of a sudden!
It just makes no sense at all!
And 1.3MCH is way too much for crappy 540FSB!
                  Bleh bleh bleh.
I might as well try for 533x8 again instead.
I will retest 533x7.5 (1.28MCH, 1.32500VCORE) fully again, save it, and then either call it a day or continue...

1.30v MCH is nothing...is the NB getting hot, or can you easily put 1.32-1.36v? How about adding a fan to NB ?

I'm not comfortable putting 1.36v MCH or above, but one day I'm there... you're at 1.30v today...raise ffs !

I'm not comfortable putting 1.36v MCH or above, but one day I'm there... you're at 1.30v today...raise ffs !
I already got a fan there... So the temperature is not a problem... But I just hate the feel :D lol I know, but... really ffs, ugh... :D

Allright, I decided to ditch the FSB because I can't tell whether I run into memory limits or not (which makes the testing more complicated), and try for 533x8 again.
So far I had absolutely no luck with:
1.38750VCORE and normal CPU ref, and whole range of 1.2-1.36VTT - instant Prime failure.

Getting onto the same track with [email protected].
Don't tell me my CPU needs 1.4+ VCORE for 4.2GHZ damnit!

It's possible. It may do 4.2GHz nicely on super low Vcore with max multi, but that high of a FSB may be playing with it's head. 540FSB is like me smoking a phat joint after not seeing even a sniff of the stuff for 5 years. When one has tolerance it's a chill out smoke, but when you're completely fresh it can be a right trip

Maybe your CPU is tripping, ie either it's at its stable FSB limit or it needs a disproportional bit of encouragement in the form of voltage.

Keep tinkering. I know you're capable. It may be though that you're fighting a difficult, if not impossible battle. If my E7400 has a FSB limit (with my config) of 425 FSB, yours may reasonably be at the 500-550 mark.
